Well the British had Numbers...they greatly out numbered the colonists also they had formal military training and better weoponry. The colonists had Guerrilla warfare which up until that point hadn't been used against an army like the British Army.

British
bayonet - they could engage in melee and the colonists could not (the colonists had guns for hunting, and did not have bayonets).
ships - the British controlled the seas and could move their troops easily along the coast.
reliable money - the British could reliably pay troops, equip and feed them with their money. The colonists were always borrowing and sometimes just could not get what they needed.
Colonists Advantages
They just had to hold on. The British had to defeat the colonists to win, the colonists just had to exist.
No roads. The British could not move their armies away from the coast and rivers because without roads they could not supply or reinforce them. This meant the colonists could avoid battle or retreat from battle by moving just a few miles to the interior.
Armed population. The British had not faced an armed population. They were used to facing armies in the field, and then unarmed civilians. The Irish hated the British but lacked guns to fight back. The British never adjusted to facing an entire population that had guns and could field a small army anywhere at any time.

The British' advantage: more organized and experienced in warfare. They had proper outfitting and weapons. They had a professional army.
The British' disadvantage: they were used to traditional warfare and couldn't fight against the colonists' guerilla warfare tactics. They didn't know the land as well as the colonists did, since that was the colonists' home. They had to wait for their food rationing to come from England by boat, while the colonists had food literally from their own backyard.
The colonists' advantage: the French were helping them. Better at hit-and-run tactics instead of the British army's "last man standing" mentality.
The colonists' disadvantage: not all colonists wanted to be their own nation. There was political dissent within the colonies themselves.

As Americans I think our main advantage was the anger at how the British government was treating us. Other than that, the Brits really had the upper hand. Their military was better trained and equipped. The British Navy was a major power and our Navy was more of a mosquito fleet. Actually it's a miracle we won. The author James Nelson has written a revolution at sea saga that is very good about the naval side of the war.

British: more money, professional army and navy, experiences military leaders, more troops, loyalists composed about one-third of the colonists especially in the south.
Colonists: home field advantage (they knew the land better), element of surprise early on (the Brits at Ticonderoga didn't even know there was a war on), the motivation to fight for their homes and villages and towns, the motivation to fight for their freedom, some minor help from France/Spain/Dutch and a few foreign leaders, the intangible charisma and leadership of George Washington
Now there, you still have to discuss and understand these issues, not just be able to list them, so get cracking on that homework

The British had a more organized military force and were better funded. The colonists knew the land they were fighting on better and were better at hiding and suprise attacks. That's my guess anyway. It's been a long time since I studied this stuff.

the american Revolution develop into far greater pragmatic than patriotic. Colonists have been getting taxed to dying, and instructed they had to purchase their staples from the Crown or never. They got here to the Colonies to make money, no longer lose it, and that they did no longer think of it develop into elementary that they develop into the Monarchy's money cow. England mandatory further and extra money to assist the wars it develop into scuffling with, and that's plenty much less perplexing to tax the matters you won't have the capacity to work out, than to tax the matters who could be heard while they whinge. Royalty tried to maintain a lid on the transforming into top center type, and the transforming into top center type began to attain that they did no longer surely elect the Royal type in any respect. upload in a King with occasional suits of dementia, a Revolution in France that promoted the assumption of Democracy, and you have have been given the american Revolution nicely in hand!
