Sprectracide and Ortho both sell broad band insecticides that kill chinch bugs. I prefer the Spectracide product called Dursban. You can buy it in a concentrate and use a hose sprayer to dilute it. To kill chinch bugs you don't need a strong solution. Use the sprayer directions to estimate the dilution rate of the sprayer, and add enough of the dursban to give you about a1/2 percent solution. this is strong enough.

The key to killing chinch bugs is to spray the lawn before you see the damage. Once you begin to see the damage, you will suffer a small amount of additional damage afterward. So don't wait to spray.

The other thing to keep in mind about Dursban, is that this is the product commonly used by pest control companies for indoor use. It can be applied around baseboards and areas where people and pets will not touch it, and it will kill roaches and other household pests.

You can also use it for termites if you cover it with dirt after applying. Of course the concentration should be higher.
