I apologize for our rude neighbors, unfortunately there are rude people everywhere. We don't speak English well either , ask the English, they'll tell you.

We northerners don't even think we have an accent, but we sure do. I personally like a southern drawl.

Education is not relative to area in the USA.

If you ever get to New Jersey, we'll show you some hospitality

"Ignore" ignorant people. It is a reflection of their sorry upbringing. Be glad your parents taught you common courtesy. Southerners for the most part had parents who were also taught good manners, and they taught their children those same manners.

I work with the public and get calls from all over the USA. I speak with a Southern accent. When people make remarks about my accent, I have been known to tell tell them "I don't have an accent, you do" or "yes, I am southern and proud of it.". Northerners seem to think they don't have an accent (LOL). Southerners might say 'ya'll', but northerners say 'you's' (what's with THAT?), we can say 'car', they say 'kye' (what!!?), we can say 'saw', they say 'sawer' (?!!), we say 'oil', they say 'orl', we say 'wash', they say 'warsh', and they laugh at us!! They need to listen to themselves on a tape recorder. They'd shut up then!! Don't fret it, ignorance and intolerance abounds everywhere, they are beyond hope. Don't worry about it. Just keep being your sweet, southern self. You'll be better off.

there are people everywhere who think they are better than everyone else, just as there are people who are humble and nice everywhere. I think its funny that people make fun of others' way of talking, especially when our country is losing its national language due to immigration.
