First off, let's remember that Yahoo! is primarily an English languange site. There are a lot of people from overseas *trying* to use it in English. That's understandable...
Otherwise:
Poor grammar, sentence structure and general ability to convey an idea reveal how far U.S. public education has declined.
Ignorance is prevelant as well. People will give confident incorrect answers on subjects they know nothing about.

Well... some, if not most people on this forum ask stupid questions using bad middle school grammar. On the other hand there are many people that ask civilized, intelligent questions on a regularly. You just need to sort through the BS. The funny thing is that the intelligent people tend to anwer the intelligent questions and the ignorant answer the ignorant questions.

I would have to agree. I went through school and learned some proper grammar. Spelling is what gets me the most especially since they have a spell check on here.

I think that a lot of people on here forget this is the world wide web. English is not the first language for many people on this site. I personally give them a lot of credit for making theselves understood. I don't speak any foreign language and can just barely speak English. Lighten up and just try and learn from the rest of the world

Disagree, some of the hard to understand questions are posted from people not of this country or are young and still have not perfected they're spelling abilities.

Yep, totally agree with you. Although, it has toned down the past few days. I can actually understand what people are saying instead of taking a headache just to comprehend them.

It's not illiteracy, it's a move to a new phase of information processing - from sequential reading to configurative information intake. That is why ADD is such a problem; they eye bounces around instead of taking in a sequence.
