I think real life situations are important for student drivers to experience, so I mess with 'em, just a little -- harmless stuff like honking and waving or signaling for a left turn then changing my mind and turning right. Keeps 'em on their toes.

Well ...we all have to learn how to drive in some form or fashion....if they didn't learn how to drive in realistic situations...then we would really have a serious problem on the road when they got their drivers license. I personally think the drivers education classes in Texas that parents pay for, are given in intirely to short of a period. I don't feel that the students have enough road time teaching before they can apply for a drivers license. Texas Department of Public Safety offers a parent taught Program. Of course the parent has to meet certain requirements to be eligable to teach their child. I did it with mine....and she got 10 months of driving experience with myself or her Dad in the other seat before she went for her Drivers License. And even if your child does take a Drivers Ed Course through a Company ...there is No law in Texas that says as soon as they finish the course they have to go get their Drivers License as soon as they turn 16. Parents should ride with their children when they have only a permit, and judge for themself if they believe that their child is prepared and can drive safely, so they not only keep theirself safe but other drivers on the road as well. I encourage every Parent to be responsible, and not crumble under the wimpers of their child...."But Mom..I'm 16...and everybody else gets their license when they turn 16". You and Your child are not everyone else...everyone learns at a different pace....Be Respectful and Considerate of other People and Families on the road....A little extra time behind the wheel if necessary won't scar them for life...Trust me...Been there...and So Glad I used my Brain instead of My Heart.

We all have to learn sometime, right? How you act after you get that license to drive is what is important. If you act crazy and drive like a maniac, you will get the reputation of a student driver, one stereotype that has been pinned on our youth today.....

Drove too fast for my student driver teacher... he hated me.
But that's because I was driving the speed of traffic and he wanted me to drive super slow with traffic piling up behind me.

Everyone has to learn!
I was conservative and slow until I learned, then once I gained confidence I move with the flow!

very nervous, but with the right training you will be ok.
Student drivers are ok as long as they are listening to instructions and follow them. âº
