just because i am the messiah doesnt mean that their twisted little cult has anything to do with it... if christians dont stop being so insular I might not let them know anything at all...
p.s... the `big kahoona` says... " DO NOT WORSHIP THE MESSIAH, WORSHIP INSTEAD THE GROUND HE WALKS ON"...
As you may all end up warring over the meaning i shall tell you.. it means i and other messengers are just that ! Give your love to the earth and all its wonders instead. i.e... stop idolising statues of skinny blokes on crosses and go hug a tree...man

The hijack that word because they believe that Jesus was the messiah. Note that they do not hijack phrases like "der Fuhrer" or "il Duce" -- because they do not apply to Jesus.

Wow. That whole thought process was terribly convoluted.

First off, you are just as bad as what is typically considered "Christian" in the U.S. if you continue to make statements to the effect of "I know the truth about reality and everyone else is wrong." Yeah, way to be just another fundamentalist there, cool guy.

Second, Judeo-Christianity does have its own vocabulary and contextual meanings. Messiah is amongst those words because it conjures up certain images that relate to certain figures within Judeo-Christian culture. If you use that word out of its context, then you will meet some resistance from popular culture in accepting the new meaning. I mean, that would be like me calling Jesus the Western Buddha and expecting everyone to be okay with that.

Third, worshipping the earth or nature or whatever is just another religion. It isn't a special or unique perspective in the world, so stop acting like you hold all the theological knowledge in existence. Instead, maybe you should use your brain and start fleshing out some details as to the legitimacy of your own theology and not just bop onto the Internet to tell people that your ideas are right.

You know, because trying to communicate philosophy and theology on the Internet is a real rewarding experience.

Whats the question? Anyway, the word messiah has been introduced to the christian way of thinking because this is what religions do. They incorporate the best parts of other religions - therefore erradicating them and increasing thier own masses. Look at what catholisism did to the pagans!

Blah Blah Blah Blah.

I would rather worship the Creator than the creation. Hug a tree yourself.

Words are hijacked from the Bible all the time, to further a particular religious agenda. These words are translated time and time again, so it's not a new concept, but it is certainly something to be aware of. I agree that worshipping anything other than the Earth is a waste of spirit.

Your question is a trifle convoluted, but the answer is that their religion is a forgery, whose central character they decided to make into the Messiah awaited by the Jews

No one knows who planted you there,
No one remains even to care,
your branches reach toward the sky,
Pruned and shaped, not obvious why.
What lofty goal caused you to reach?
What lesson was in you to teach?
What dream gave you vitality?
Why did once grow this now dead tree?
How long it took to become great,
Now dead and naked, ceased to wait.
When sun glared hot, you gave your shade,
Did children climb and on you play?
Lovers leaned on your trunk to kiss?
Did those good days you later miss?
Did by you trav'lers mark their way?
Weren't seasons known by your display?
Times have changed, the people are gone,
None looks for your strength to lean on.
All about are tangles and snares
Where ground grew a thicket of tares.
Sometimes a bird lights on your top;
Even that is but a brief stop.
None ever knew the depth of your root;
Who ever heard wind like a flute
Coursing through your branches and leaves?
Were you once the most loved of trees?
No matter how great you became
You are dead and no one to blame.
When your purpose had slipped away
Your life found no reason to stay.
Since no one said while you were here,
I want to say, "Thank you for those years."
Though I am not one who you knew
I pay this honor so long due.
Mem'ry of your love did not last,
Your wooden bones speak of a past
And purpose and a life,forgot.
I'm sorry it seems all for naught.
--------------------------------------------

So hugging a tree is a waste of time, that's my conclusion.
