My sis in law was 12 when my first came along and she did fine, you will too. Be prepared for the crying at all hours of the night, know that things will be chaotic for a while, plans may get cancelled here and there. You seem like youre excited and happy about the arrival of a new little brother or sister so run with it, when you're alot older then the baby you can pitch in and help, change diapers, bathtime and eventually im sure youll be giving bottles and burping like a pro.

I'm sure your stepmom will be doing almost everything for the new baby. The baby will be sleeping most of the time during the first couple of months. You can help your stepmom around the house. Chances are, she and your dad will be tired from all those sleepless nights when the baby needs to be fed or changed in the middle of the night. Just be patient. Ask your parents how you can assist them. Enjoy your little brother or sister.

Here's a great website. You can read about the various stages that babies go through even before they are born.

Get mentally prepared for crying in the middle of the night and maybe cranky dad and stepmom because they won't be getting much sleep at first.

Best help would be to help keep the house in order. Try out cooking a bit or offer to wash the dishes, etc. Ask often if there's anything you can do to help out. It's tough having a new baby, at least a month or so.

Wow, christmas baby, Congrats!

The main thing at handling a new born, is that you have to make sure his head/neck is supported. New borns don't have strong enough neck muscle, so you have to support its head at all times. And make sure keep anything that can suffocate away from the baby, such as pillows, blankets, comforters, big stuffed animals, etc. Otherwise, just a lot of TLC, holding, feeding & changing.

relax you will be fine.

Babies are hard work and require constant attention. :-)
