Yes, leave laptop unplugged. Power supply will keep trying to charge it and it will kill it. As far as your desktop, either way is fine. My feeling is that Windows needs to rebooted often to continue to operate optimal so I turn it off when ever I am done. Have had the same harddrive in there for many years no problems.

No! Your laptop could blow up! you could also burn yourself! your Desktop is alright, it can hybernate or switch it off, if the prosesser gets to warm it could melt, remember that! Turning a computer on and off has nothing to do with "better for the harddrive" the computer doesnt run on just the hard drive..

battery lasts 3 years in worst conditions. This is longer than useful life of the laptop. As a laptop owner the battery life should be the last thing to concern. Keep it plugged while using. When it is plugged it is also in faster mode. Believe it or not, this is the truth that i know.

It depends what kind of battery your laptop has...some develop a "memory" and keeping them plugged in all the time actually decreases battery life.

I leave my desktop on 24/7 and it works fine...it's just a question about power consumption.
