Main difference is that XP Pro has more networking features than XP Home. XP Home is really the best option as far as cost/feature wise for the standard home user.

One of the main differences is the networking or lack there of in Home edition. Here are Network functions not available in Home.

The user interface for IPSecurity (IPSec)
SNMP
Simple TCP/IP services
SAP Agent
Client Service for NetWare
Network Monitor
Multiple Roaming feature

Here are "Power User" features not included.

Remote Desktop
Multi Processor Support
Automated System Recovery (ASR)
Dynamic Disk Support
Fax
Internet Information Services/Personal Web Server

Some left out "Security" features

Encrypting File System
File-level access control
"C2" certification

Management features not in Home

Domain membership (cannot use in windows domain)
No Group Policy
No IntelliMirror
No Roaming profiles

Also Home does not have a 64bit version.
I am sure there are things I forgot....

Hope this helps....

Do you mean between Home and Pro? If so, pro has more services for business than Home does. Pro is usually better with networks.

PRO cost more but you get a lot of the office type app's, and it has more features to control other computers, network, file work (power user type stuff)... not really necessary with all the free app's avail. and a little networking know how.
