Look for some outdoor activities: rambling, orienteering, rock climbing, backpacking. There are lots of clubs - there must be some local to you. My pal was like you - stuck with firends with no imagination who thought getting stoned was all there was to do. He went on an outward bound weekend with the firm and decided he wanted more of that.

Alternatively, try some indoor sports at your local Adult education centres: have you tried fencing, badminton, squash, bike racing, gymnatics, or possibly a mrtial art.

Then again, if you are not "physical", learn a foreign language or get onto some courses that interest you intellectually.

Whatever suits you, you will meet a new bunch of friends and probably discover that life can be so full of fun, you wondered why you ever asked this question. Go for it. Get involved in something positive, exciting or useful. It will expand your brain so much that even if you do get stoned sometimes, your mind has a lot more to explore.

Ah. Know someone in your shoes. At 17, you need your mates don't you? But aren't they boring? And good for you, because you know Life has so much more to offer! But what to do?
Check out some club sites on the web ... I don't mean night clubs, but more like interesting and quirky hobbies.
You might one that appeals to you.
Maybe you already know what might make your life more fun? Are you interested in anything? Passionate about anything? Or just ready to find out?
Is it wildlife? Caring for animals? Thousands of animal sanctuaries and shelters need a volunteer to work some of the time there. Fun and rewarding..
Is it a fast, crazy sport? Find where they do it, and volunteer to help in any way in return for a few basic lessons.
Is it art? Start working on your own comic books or something - you could become good enough to get them published.
Hair? Make-Up? Fashion?
See what turns you on, and give it a try.
Be with your friends as much as before, but make some time for testing out something different. There might be new friends your age already there, or one or two of your other friends might be impressed by what you are doing and eventually join you ....
The possibilities are endless, but you won't find them by staying still.
Get moving! Start searching!
Good Luck!

There is nothing more fun than making music with a few close friends. learn an instrument and start a band, it becomes consuming, all you think about is writing songs, practising, and GIGGING...nothing on earth is a satisfying as letting the public hear the hard work you have put into your band. A band becomes so tight it's almost like family.

At 17 life seems boring because anything you like to do other people may criticize you for it, and you don't want that, because then you're not cool, os the temptation is not to do anything and then you can't be criticized. I think you know of lots of fun thins to do, like skating, and learning to play a musical instrument, or volunteerin your tim somewhere. Theres plenty to do but you have ot be bold enough to step out there no matter what other people think and do what you enjoy!

Steer clear of the drunk and stoned crowd. Get a guitar and listen to heavy doses of 70s rock n' roll ( Styx, Rolling Stones, Kansas, ELO, Boston ) and be the James Dean original to bring back the REAL rock sound.

Girls will love you for it: trust me on this one.

We used to go "chalk walking" Take some sidewalk chalk and go into a main city and write stuff on the street. Since it washes away it perfectly legal. Just don't write on any landmarks. That could get you in trouble.

Just try to appreciate the simple things, then you'll be happier.

Try doing community service, join the choir, learn to drive if you dont have a license yet, learn a new language.
