but i have a dell and itunes takes forever to download can i just use the music program that i already have on my computer to put new songs on the ipod and erase sone of the ones that are already on there?

No, iTunes is your only choice. However, if the songs you have in the other player are MP3 files, you can have iTunes load them, saving a lot of download time.

In iTunes menu, go to file, then select add folder to library. Select the folder that has all of your songs in it. It will take a few minutes for iTunes to write new labels. Then just sync and go.

The thing about iPod, that's the main thing why people don't buy it is you only have 1 option of a music player and organizer. That's iTunes. =( You can try firewire, which is a lil faster at charging and I think downloadin into your iPod.

i thought u had to have itunes in order to put in music into ur ipod

no. the ipod will not register that as a song playable. itunes is necessary to perform all of your transfers.
