More dollars arrive at their ultimate intended destination with faith based funding than thru "traditional" channels that siphon off 60%-95% of the dollars for "administration". "Faith" based organizations and churches are part of and closest to the community and usually know the needs best. Unfortunately, there are those vocal few who don't truly care about the needs but would stop the flow to the communities because of the word "faith"...sad...and , Yes...our troops and veterans should also be cared for...Why don't YOU do something today...give to a Rescue Mission of your time and money...go walk thru a VA hospital and thank the men and women who have given a part of themselves...write to war hero's widows and thank them for their spouse's ultimate sacrifice...set up a scholarship for their children or tutor them...

what, this is a question?
so he could get voted back in and continue his destruction of the US as Cheney's minion.
And don't forget that he is - despite his fervent wish to be a Texan - a member of the Northeastern Establishment. He wouldn't know about the needs of troops and veterans if you shoved his face into a plate of slop.

to shore up his political base. that was the whole point of the faith based initiative in the first place. my real problem with is it is that pretty much only christian churches receive funds from the initiative. many muslim charity organizations have applied and been turned down.

"Faith bases" as you put it, help lots of people...like the homeless, elderly, etc...I think it's a rather good thing! Poor Dubya can't win with you people. If he does things to help the poor and and helpless, he's STILL criticized! Make up your mind!

Because like all the other choices he tries to impose he only thinks about Crawford Texas and his Bible world of people he surrounds himself with.
