The potency of a fart is expressed by up to three factors:
1) Exit velocity
2) Sonic strength
3) Olfactory offensiveness

Because a silent fart has a low exit velocity and very little sonic strength, all its energy goes into making it stink. Hope that clears things up for you.

Farts smell due to gases produced by bacteria breaking down the fatty acids that your body doesn't handle well. What you eat determines how much and how strong the gas is.

The sonic characteristics of a fart has really nothing to do with the smell... however.....

since we generally 'sound off' on a fart we then know to adjust our breathing and/or proximity to the fartor to reduce our exposure to the smell. With silent farts... it kind sneaks up on all those around and then.. as that first whiff hit's them... they think.. do I smell something and then instinctively Sniff in a bit more and WHAM... Aww... geeze.....

So... if you really want to impress your buddies.. eat the right food and squeeze out the gas in nice continous but silent flows.

Hope this helps and have fun!

S.B.D.'s have a creeping effect and since there is no audio it takes us and the dog by surprise.
Big flatulent expulsions, give us an auditory signal, something smelly this way comes.
And if you've never had a dog with tummy rumbles from a high protein dogfood, they get smart enough to run before the smell hits. That's a visual clue.

As there is less energy used in propelling the fart (e.g., making it loud) the particles that make up the smell are not dispersed so well. And as their smaller, the particles are concentrated again. So yeah. More smell in less space.

There's a small part of your lower intestine called the 'Fartius Maximus', it stores up smell for a long time and releases only when it is most inoportune. It's a clever like blighter.

These are 2nd hand farts, where a small amount of the original was breathed back in and re-processed, before being expelled.

You obviously haven't smelt one of my Garlic bread farts, loud and very smelly. I actually made my ex-missus physically sick by farting in bed one sunday morning.

no additional air force to move it around. So, silent ones remain concentrated!

It's the least they can do.
