a super special cd or record of his favourite band, and some dance lessons, if he can dance already he can meet other people of the same ilk there.

I don't know your grandpa's tastes, but I'm 65, and when they played "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley at the dance last night I was the only one who knew how to dance to it the way we did in 1958. I showed my son the step after the dance, and he said it was "the mashed potato", but we just called it "rock and roll dancing".
My personal tastes, for the most part, are for the music from the early sixties through the nineties, but there is still a part of me that nothing reaches like the songs of Elvis, Fats Domino, Richie Valens, the Big Bopper, Connie Frances, etc.
I can enjoy and appreciate the music of any era, including some rap, but have been young only in one era.
Hint: turn the radio on, switch stations until you find something that seems to ring gramps' chimes.
(GRAMPS?? Why, sonny, I'll dance on your grave!)

I would take your Grandparent somewhere and share an activity they love! Memories are the best gift of all! Go on a fishing trip, go dancing together. I took my Great Aunt to the race track. She had not been in years! Not only did she love it, she won a few bucks too! It will be a gift you will remember way longer than your Grandparent!! Best wishes to both of you and peace be yours!

Maybe, burn her a mix CD of all her favorite love songs and oldies music. I bet she would really love that. Also, buy her a nice card and stick that CD in there. You can also personalize the CD by putting your picture on it, or both of your pictures on it.

A good idea that he might appreciate is if you can try to find a copy of a newspaper from the day he was born and frame it and give it to him. Its not music but he may really like it :)

Perhaps lessons at a dance school for some sort of semi-sophisticated dancing. It would open up a whole new social world for him!

I can't believe that with all the interests that you've listed you cannot come up with a suitable gift. Perhaps the most suitable gift would be a gift of your TIME. Oftentimes that is all a grandparent wants....I'd give anything to spend just a few more minutes with my grandmother.......

A phonograph that doesn't work so well. Or maybe an antique musicbox with a fishhook and a boat and a party hat engraved.
