It depends. I don't want to be walking through the mall being held onto. But then again, it's always nice to have someone's arms around you. I guess there's a time and place. I don't feel "comfortable" walking up against someone with their arm around me. If you are holding hands, you aren't so confined. Then again, when SLEEPING, I don't want anyone touching me. I need some space. If you're sitting on the couch or something, then the arm is fine. Walking - no. Walking - hand holding is better.

Well, I like both. For example when I walk around with my boyfriend its nice to hold his hands and when want to be close to him in his arms

Hold my hand because there is more of a direct connection that way. Although I do feel protected with his arm around me, which I think is why guys instinctively do that, when he holds my hand I feel like we are a team and, although I am independent, I will always have him by my side. With our fingers intertwined, I feel like we are more of a body of one instead of separate people.

hold hands because he never did. Tried once and he got mad. It feels good to hold someones hand you are close to and I have always been jealous of people that do that. I held his hand while sleeping that's it. Part of the reason we are no longer together. This answer sounds pathetic but it's true.

I prefer holding hands.....I think if a guy constantly has to have his arms around you, it could be a possessive thing.

I would rather his arm be around me so I know that he doesn't just want to be my friend but my protector. Well, not just my protector but my one true love. Sometimes the way they act with us and the little things they do means more than words and can overpower a lot of bad things you always have coming to you for no reason!
