spider has this capability.he knows how to use his own creation by not himself being harmed . actually he knows how to properly walk on it, where to put his feet and where to not.

Because the spider makes some strands sticky and others not. The ones that are not sticky tend to be much stronger, and are used for structure of the web. The sticky and strong are usually very close together, so if a wide/flat object hits the web, it is guaranteed to get stuck, whereas if a tiny narrow spider leg is walking on it, it can find the non-sticky parts. And the spider can find the non-sticky parts because it made the web.

Spiders actually weave their webs from two or three different kinds of silk. The "cross-ties" of the web (those strands that radiate outwards from the center) are not sticky, and these are the strands that the spider actually walks upon when they traverse their web. The circular or spiral runs of slik are the sticky ones.

The other part of the equation is that, as the hunter, the spider might very well get stuck in its own web from time to time, but it has time to chew through the strands and free itself -- a fly doesn't have the luxury, because the spider is upon it as soon as it gets snared.

Spiders do not usually adhere to their own webs. However, they are not immune to their own glue. Some of the strands of the web are sticky, and others are not. For example, if a spider has chosen to wait along the outer edges of its web, it may spin a non-sticky prey or signal line to the web hub to monitor web movement. Spiders have to be careful to only climb on the non-sticky strands of their webs.

I believe the spider makes certain strands to be non-sticky, and knows not to step on the ones that are.

I don't know about the spider...

as for me...

I rarely get trapped in something that I build. I know it better than anyone else.

When threatened or hungry I go to what I know best.
do you know a better strategy?

a spider has oil glands on it's feet to keep that from happening....otherwise, it would get stuck.
