I'm the same way. It depends on who you're with. Someone who really loves you will take the time out to understand the things you do. For those of us who wear our hearts on our sleeves aren't so much over-emotional, but we care - we're willing to tell people how we feel about them and others. Frankly, we're great people to be with. Some people can't deal with emotions as well as others, and so if they can't, it won't work, and they aren't right anyway. However, in order to protect ourselves, just remember to take it slow. Don't say anything that you'll think about later and think "why did I say that!" Keep things simple, and become involved only as the relationship progresses. Do what feels right, and remember, when you're in a good relationship will keep you smiling through the good and the bad...
Hope this helps =)

To be honest the depth of your issue is not one designed for psychology. The truth of the matter is that you may be an open individual but you also have the forsight to recognize the issue at hand. I suggest that with each experience you have with heart break will make you stronger and able to withstand. The human mind is stronger then most give credit for. The feelings of hurt in time will shorten and you will be able to move on more quickly, but time is the only thing that will help heal all wounds.

You will survive better than most... most relationships breakdown through communication failures. If you are always open and honest you are laughing!
wearing ones heart on ones sleeve means the bad comes to the surface as quickly as the good, this way people will always know where they stand with you. Job done.

You have to think before you respond to any given situation.
Whatever decision you make should be based on what you hope to gain from this, what you stand to lose from this, and whether or not you will be hurting yourself by doing whatever it is. Weigh out your options and make your decision, by deciding that whatever you might lose, is not as important as what you might gain.
You have to assume the worst, and hope for the best.
You are the captain of your ship, if people are jerks to you, or use you, it's because you've allowed them to do it.
You have to quit making decisions that are based on emotion, and are only beneficial to the other person. From now on, you have to consider where your needs fit into this equation FIRST!
You can still reveal your emotions, and explain what you would like to do, but you do not have to remain obligated to anyone other than yourself.
Remember that love should not hurt. It feels lonelier to be carrying your own baggage and someone else's baggage by yourself, when you could be carrying your own baggage, and no one else's.
Hope that makes sense. Don't be a victim!
Good luck

You should have a bit of therapy to find out why you don't have any self-preservation skills. Also you may have a problem picking the right people to give your heart to. Wearing your heart on your sleeve is not the problem the problem is continuing to pick people who don't have a problem stepping on your heart and why you keep allowing it.

The only way you will know if you are with the right person is for them to form their opinions of you as you are. While you will be more open to being hurt, it's better that those around you know the real you.
