Wrong, liberals are saying that indeed government shouldn't be making life or death decisions, the public should! Why is it ok to kill your kids but not ok to punish the criminal who does such an act?
While Conservatives (which I am NOT), say that although killing and crime will happen regardless, it is the government's job to PUNISH and contain to PROTECT the public! --While at the same time (rightfully so) deciding by law what is ethical for people to get away with. '
I am one who believe it is UNethical to kill, (even if it is your own child), and you shouldn't be allowed by law to do it, make money off of doing it for others.
It is right that the worst scum among us be destroyed by the government (because who else would then do it)?while it is wrong for the most innocent and defenseless to be destroyed by personal choice with no government interference or say, which is like condoning a behavior--why else would we have such a high abortion rate?

If by crime rate you mean nonviolent drug offenses, then they are political prisoners. If by violent crime, look at the cities with the highest poverty and minority rate, and controversial and offensive to your PC sensibilities as it sounds--- there you have the substancial majority of your crime problem.
If you would like to try to prove that wrong, please go into detail.

If you are going to complain about no jobs, what did Clinton do for us with NAFTA?
Free trade? at what cost? High crime may very well correlate with no good paying job, however, it is individual CHOICE to pick up a gun and pull the trigger, sorry chum, but regardless of where you come from or what your sob story is, if you choose to rape and kill, you go to JAIL, that is the way we protect our innocent citizens! Blame your government for not giving them proper jobs, but don't let those prone to crime roam the streets for pete's sake! Don't you want to feel safe in your home?!!!

Why, it's 'cause they FEEL SORRY for 'em, of course!
After all, criminals' mommies and daddies weren't NICE to them like liberals' mommies and daddies were and that makes the Weak Sisters FEEL GUILTY.
Get the drift? The "liberals" feel just a BIT too much and it crowds out rational thought. And, until genetic modification gets going, there's no way to help them - they just have to live with it!

Have you noticed that punishing criminals does not seem to be working? I mean we have more and more people doing time in the US prisons, which are hardly country clubs, and the crime rate seems to be steady. What works is education and jobs, two things the Neocons seem not to want for the poorer folks. Oh, we hear about no child left behind but it is a sham. What we get is military recruitment shoved down schools' throats right on campus. Yep, no jobs there, Jr. You either join up or join a gang. Either way you get a gun.
Sorry, but we are doing this to ourselves. Capital punishment? Too many people with too little defense getting railroaded. Maybe you would like the guillotine there, Madam Lefarge. Preach family values? I see states like Texas executing kids too young to vote.
Liberals want law enforcement. We want it equally applied. I see Tom DeLay and his croneys out on the street still. I see victimless criminals going to jail. Sorry, not a fair trade.
You did not ask this question for enlightenment. Guess you don't care for the answers you get from Liberals.

It's not a fear of punishment. It's a recognition of the fact that the system does not always work.
How would you, as a district attorney tell the family of someone who was executed that you made a mistake, and the 5 years or 10 years later that person was proved to be innocent? So, the argument goes, better to keep them alive in prison rather than kill them. That way, the mistakes can be partially corrected.
Also, liberals have just as much right to their opinion as conservatives do about the issue. If someone feels that government-sponsored killing of another person is wrong, they have every right to participate in the political process and try to get their beliefs enacted as laws. Just like those who believe that government executions are good.
And that is also the key to your seeming paradox. In both cases (abortion and capitol punishment, and assisted suicide), liberals are saying that the government should not be making life-or-death decisions for people. And conservatives are saying that only the government should be making life-or-death decisions for people. So, both sides are very consistent.

I will skip the partial birth abortion portion of question. It is irrelevant.
But we got enough prisons.
I am assuming you must be some kind of born again.
So my question would be.
Why are Christians so anxious to imprison and execute?
Re Ted Bundy.....His lawyer was doing his job.
re death row inmates.....
quote from link
Stating that the Illinois death penalty system is "fraught with errors," Governor Ryan acknowledged that the release of 13 death row inmates based on findings of innocence had encouraged him to impose the moratorium. "We have now freed more people than we have put to death under our system -- 13 people have been exonerated and 12 have been put to death. There is a flaw in the system, without question, and it needs to be studied...I will not approve any more executions in this state until I have the opportunity to review the recommendations of the commission that I will establish," Ryan told Chicago reporters. "I will ask this commission to initiate a review of the death penalty in Illinois," he added

This is old news but still applicable.

You are a firm believer in railroading people into the death chamber?
It seems to happen often enough.
Nothing brings people together like a hanging.

abortion should be legal, that should not even be an issue. if we had a judicial system that had bigger "balls" than maybe the crime rate would go down a lot. if somone was found guilty of a harsh crime (ie: murder, rape, etc.) than they should be executed by a firing squad or hung right after court right outside the courthouse so we could watch. it's crazy that people really act shocked when they hear about 10 kids getting raped by a convicted sex offender.

get a clue - fine example of the right wing "culture of death"
life sentence is WORSE than suicide by government- death penalty is very expensive as well, it costs your state tens of thousands of $$ each time- have the person live out thier natural life stamping license plates or making twine-
partial birth abortion is meant for a mother in a car accident who will die if the dead child is not aborted- no, you'd rather let the mother die as well.. i guess- gosh...your so nice...
PLUS why can't your religion convince you that abortion is bad- works for me- I don't want some cold government institution with olive drab walls telling me my personal choices- maybe that kind of freedom is to much responsibility for sheepish conservatives who need to be told what to do by a big "daddy" government who actually steals all your tax dollars spends on weapons of killing...duh?
Like Tom Delay- who was Republican Leader- now under arrest- with scandal of fraud including forced abortions of Chinese laborers on American territory in factories in Saipan - he said this is a model of American business- he's YOUR conservative leadership- smoke on that for a while-- makes Clinton look like a kids birthday party, cause Delay LIED all the way up to his ARREST and it won't be filed "without merit" like Bill
