Why do people think 'dunno' is an acceptable answer (see details)?

Someone is actually complaining because he got a violation for saying 'dunno' (I didn't report him by the way). Seriously, why can't people grasp the concept that if you can't don't know a question you shouldn't answer it?
If you're going to give a rubbish answer that's up to you but you should accept the consequences

People might say this is 'supposed to be fun', I enjoy a laugh as much as the next person but you should answer a question in the fashion it deserves. If someone asks a non-serious question give them a non-serious answer by all means, but if someone needs help with a serious problem they deserve a helpful answer.

I agree waste of time answering if you have not got a clue as to the answer and dunno is not even a real word, it should be "I do not know" and another thing I thought the idea on here was to find out the answer to your questions, not a point scoring quest "oh i need 1 point to get to level 4" I say bugger off you saddo

I have gotten answers like that and it has annoyed me. I agree that if a person doesn't know the answer they shouldn't answer it. I think there are people on here who just want the 2 points for answering a question. The points really don't mean anything except to get to a higher level.

This is for fun.. and for 2 points.. Now this isn't for money, or someones life on the line.
Report someone if you have to.. but shouldn't you really be offended to report someone?
Its like an extra fun tool on here for some.. O' boy , let me check the rule book, can I report someone for this??
That's silly. I suggest those people get out of their chair and look to see what they're sitting on, and remove the stick if needed.

Because people giving a stupid answer are usually illiterate, stupid school kids who think is it great fun to annoy sensible people like you. I agree with your point entirely and wish more people would report these sort of things. Perhaps things will improve when the schools re-open and all the little darlings are too busy with homework to waste our time.

Maybe some people are just desperate for the points, or else thinks 'dunno' suggests that the askee is not alone in asking whatever they've just asked.

And why are you complaining about it? Someone's annoyed that they got a violation and wants to rant about it, and yes, it's a stupid thing to get a violation for, but at the same time, why are you so annoyed about it?

Because those people are only here for the points. Many others are on this site for the enjoyment they get from reading and answering questions.

I agree - though I would feel annoyed at someone being so lazy and not bothering to put together a reasonably intelligent reply (even disagreeing with me would be better and more welcomed). I wouldn't bother reporting them though - nobody pays attention to those replies anyway.

I totally agree. If they cannot give a well thought out answer, they should just skip the question. It isn't like these points are worth anything!
