IMO quality of life issues are important, but so are paying the bills. If you can manage to make ends meet with a lower salary, than I would argue it is definitely worth it! Less stress, better benefits are immediate perks. More respect can lead to more responsibility that can ultimately lead to future promotions. If there is room for growth, I'd say it makes a lot of sense and would be a wise move.

Absolutely yes. I took a 40% paycut a year ago to take a job that I believed I would enjoy more and would be more rewarding.

I haven't regretted it for a second. I'm happier and since I took the job I've had a bonus and a raise to help make up some of the income. Besides, no money in the world was worth the misery I was experiencing in my old job.

$2.00 is nothing compared to more respect and less stress. Better benefits makes the decision a no brainer because then you are not really losing $2 an hour, just shifting it to the benefits column. If you can possibly handle it financially, DO IT!!!!!

it depends what your hourly rate is right now. Is 2.00 around 10% or 20%?

2.00 an hour is 4000 a year. The benefits had better be good.

When you get the job after your next one, will the fact you took a pay cut look bad on your resume? (CV)

Yes probably, benefits have actually been shown to be more 'beneficial' than just money alone. There may even be more room to move up. If you're less stressed and get more respect, you will do better and your job and be happier... therefore having a better chance of being promoted.

Good luck!

Better benefits may pay off in the long run..
Health insurance could easily make up for the 2.00 less an hour.

I don't know what your age is, but believe me, if you can find a job where the stress level is decreased, go for it.

Stress can cause health problems, affect your relationships, your view on life, your self image...every aspect of your entire life.

Better benefits can also make life a lot easier..
just take my word on that one, You never know if you are going to get sick.

No one says the future is going to be filled with sunshine and roses. Accidents happen, sickness happens. Who cares about the respect part...honey, if you respect yourself, forget about what other people think.

Absolutely yes! With the respect and benefits you will feel so much better working that your production will be better. Then your tenor will be longer, and hopefully you will get a raise or at least your benefits will accrue.

With the stressful job, you would be likely to need those medical benefits sooner.
Go for it!

That's about $200 a month. So depending on your expenses, it might not be a lot. Less stress and better benefits sounds great. I'd take a little less if my job wasn't so stressful.
