MY QUESTION IS MY TRUCK NEEDS REPAIR I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP AND IT'S BEEN THERE FOR A WEEK AND A HALF ON A LIFT. THE WARRANTY COMPANY PROTECTION PLUS INC C.A.R.S. IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND THEY ARE RUDE AND HARD TO DEAL WITH AND THESE ARE COVERED COMPONETS UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT , THEY ARE CALLING ME AND THE SHOP LIARS SAYING MY TRUCK COULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM THEY ALSO SAID THAT WE ARE LYING THAT WE PUT A TOWING PACKAGE AND A LIFT KIT ON THE TRUCK AFTER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK BUT, THE TRUCK CAME WITH BOTH OF THESES THINGS WHEN WE GOT IT OFF THE LOT. ITS A USED CAR . SO NOW THEY SAY THEY WILL AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR WORK BUT, WE HAVE TO FAX THEM A LETTER STATING WE HAVE PURCHASED THE TRUCK THE WITH THE TOW PACKGE AND LIFT AND WE NEVER MODIFIED IT . I WANT TO BUT , THEN I'M SCARED THAT THIS COULD SOME HOW VOID MY WARRANTY OR THEY ARE TRYING TO GET US TO SAY THIS SO THEY CAN GET OUT OF PAYING WHAT SHOULD IT DO

Hi there,

Several things:
1. the shop should be doing this. that's what they are paid for. and it should have been done PRIOR to puting it in a lift and tearing into it.
2. extended warranties are famous for the fine print.
3. the reason for the lift kit etc. is: if it was on the vehicle when it was purchased it's covered(as long as the policy states it's covered, or unless the policy states it's not covered) Policies differ here. some state what IS covered(and, trust me, if it does NOT list it then it's not covered) other policies state what is not covered(it it's NOT listed- then it's covered)
4. If it was added by you after purchase then it's not covered.
5. BIGGIE if a non covered part (a part you installed or a part not covered) fails and failure of a covered part results then nothing is covered.

Last resort(this is because the extended warranty ADMINISTRATOR (the actual insurer hardly ever does the preauthorizing) is really a ****. A claim adjustor will be sent out to confirm. BUT, if they have approved the repair and just want your confirmation that the modifications were on the truck when you bought it you're probably ok. If they find you put the stuff on yourself they will sue you and possible pursuit criminal charges.
If you bought it that way then sign the paper. Once you get that authorization number and amount they'll pay you should be good to go. I have never heard of them backing down once you get that authorization. BUT, if they find yuou lied it won't be pretty.
