Could this be the reson for back pain? Why do I have to wait 4 weeks after the ct for a ultrasound? Could this be the reason as well for the cysts they found on my ovaries? ( which is waiting for a ultrasound as well) Shed some light because I'm scared!! :) Thanks

I just picked up the ct scan results the er doctor just said what I had and to follow up. Of course being in the military the docs here make you wait, like I'm waiting for the pelvic ultarsound on Sept. 25 and the renal ultrsound on Oct. 4. then I guess they will give me the answers, but I bothered by it

Renal (Kidney) cysts may or may not be anything to worry about. That is why they should be investigated with help of ultrasound, CT and other modalities as and when indicated.
Most of them are benign (non-cancerous). The doctor could be sure of that only after doing various investigations.
In your country may be there is a long wait-list for such investigations. Usually, there is no need for patients to wait for these investigations. They are generally done on priority.
A large renal cyst may lead to a dull kind of pain in the loins. Your renal cyst seems too small to cause any back pain.
The cyst in your kidney and ovaries need not necessarily be related to each other.

I know that you are freaking out about it, but there is a good chance that if anyone was to google cortical renal cysts, it would scare the heck out of you. The reason the tests are taking so long is the fact that they want to know everything about the information that they have attained. I did find information on cysts for you though...
The human body occasionally creates structures and substances which serve no discernible purpose. Such is the case with a membrane-covered growth called a cyst. A cyst is generally formed on the surface of an organ or in the empty spaces between muscle and skin tissues. Generally speaking, most cysts are harmless (benign) and self-contained, filled with air, infected fluids or semi-solid substances such as sebum.
A cyst may be caused by a defect during fetal development, an infection or some unknown reason. Many people may notice small, hard lumps under their forearms or wrists, for example. These lumps are actually a form of cyst called a sebaceous cyst. A lump in the wrist may be a ganglion cyst. Some people develop a cyst on their vocal cords. It is not unusual to discover a cyst under one's scalp or face.
While a cyst may not be harmful or cancerous, it can be extremely painful. Soldiers who frequently spent time riding in jeeps during World War II sometimes reported a painful 'blister' near their tailbones. Doctors soon determined the real cause of the pain was a cyst formed by ingrown hairs near the coccyx. Based on the Greek words for 'hairy nest', the condition is now known as a pilonital cyst. Those who have a sedentary lifestyle, suffer from obesity or have substantial lower back hair are especially susceptible to pilonital cyst development. Surgical intervention may be necessary if the cyst does not drain naturally.
The condition known as cystic fibrosis is aggravated by numerous cysts forming and subsequently bursting in the lung cavity. The mucus release from each cyst drains into the lungs, creating a life-threatening shortness of breath if not kept in check. A cyst on the ovary is usually not malignant, but it can continue to grow into a large mass and cause painful crowding of abdominal organs.
They usually aren't bothersome unless they are obstructing normal body functions. I hope that I have helped you!

we get cysts off and on like we do on our skin.
most likely it's nothing to worry about. 4 weeks generally things change with the cyst it either goes down or if it's still there, stays the same... or if it gets larger then they may wish to do more testing in order to see if it'll go malignant or if it's a benine thing... then wait (more tests blah blah) to see if it'll be worthwhile to remove it or not.
you may have a spread of these cysts for a reason so they're probably going to keep tabs on these to see if anything changes and if it's linked to cancer in any way.
most times it's not. but cysts can be a pain in the anus if you know what i mean.
as you already know as i see.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

see a cyst is a structural abnormality. the condition you refering seems to be cyst both in ovary and the kidney.
certain cysts can be dissolved by inner medication itself. your doctor might said to have a U.S scan after a period of medication he prescribed just to see how the medicine got its effect over the cyst and if the condition improves we can expext smoother relive without surgery. nothing to worry.take medicines regularly.
