relationship is way more important that politics. Someone who dumps their partner over politics is just retarded.

I'm a more conservative person... and I can honestly say that though I have some friends that are liberal, I would never date a liberal.... because that is something that will linger there which is powerful enough to rip a relationship apart. That's going to be an ever-present argument waiting to happen, and with something that people are as passionate about as politics, I don't think it's something that either person will easily get over.

I am very political and very opinionated, so I would find it very hard to maintain a relationship with someone who was the polar opposite of me politically. It might make for some fiery debate and translate to passion in the short term, over time it just wouldn't work out.

Every one is different and has different views. So you political stance might be different from you bf/gf. It does make an interesting discussion because I had a bf that had different political views that I did.

It depends if you respect each others' point of view. And, how politically active you both are.

If you are going into this with any thought that you are going to change the other person. Or, that you will make demands on each other because of your political beliefs, then it won't work.

Different moralities? Yes, that's red flag on marriage and will almost surely cause problems.

Different politial stances? Nope, you don't have to be the same person.

I am married, so I think that it would be difficult to live with someone who didn't agree with my politics at least to some degree. I couldn't be attracted to someone who didn't share my political viewpoint, because my political views are closely related to my moral views.

It depends how much you can agree to disagree. Check out Arnold Schwartzanegger an Maria Shriver. He's a Republican and governor of CA & she is a Democrat and Prez Kennedy's neice and Sen Robert Kennedy's neice... wow if they can do it, anyone can!

i wouldnt basis the whole decision on politics, but odds are your morals are gonna conflict also. and that could be a problem depending on how stronge you stand by your beliefs. my hubby and i have most of the same political views, we differ on some and in that case he backs down.
