Any reccomendations of good historical fiction?

I have a keen interest in biblical fiction, having read books such as The Red Tent by Anita Damiant, Sarah and Zipporah (two different books) by Marek Halter, and I'm interested to find out if anyone has read any historical fiction books that were really great, especially those written about biblical women. Thanks!

While I might not be able to suggest historical novels centered around Biblical women, I think I can give you some other novels that might interest you just as much.

You seem to enjoy books that are focused on women in historical settings, so perhaps you might be interested in "The Memoirs of Cleopatra" by Margaret George. If ancient Egypt is not really your style, then perhaps "The Constant Princess" by Philippa Gregory is more your style, if you think something set in the Renaissance is more to your taste. And then of course there are "In the Company of the Courtesan" and "The Birth of Venus" by Sarah Dunant. For something more Oriental, try "Passing Under Heaven" by Justin Hill.

The books by Rutherford, one titled Sarum, about the history of the city we know as Salisbury, and London, are very good.

I liked Drums along the Mohawk as a lad.

I seem to recall one that I think you will like, called Masada, which is set in Biblical times. Others in the same vein are The Robe, The Chalice.

I haven't read them but I have read other works by this author. Orson Scott Card has a Women in Genesis series. Sarah. Rebekah. Rachel and Leah.

Israel, My Beloved by Kay Arthur is supposed to be a good book. (The source this time is my mother. She really enjoyed it, and I trust her opinion).
