My Ipod Video got scratches putting into the soft case that Apple gave with it. If you are looking to avoid scratches put a protective film over it. Black will show scratches alot faster than white Ipods. Good luck

If the ipod moves on any table you should check it for roaches or other strong insects that are pushing it along.

Sliding on anything is not great for an ipod. Get one of those ipod skins and protect it from scratches.

You would think that for 300$ Ipod could make a scratch resistant ipod huh? I have my ipod in a case too and low and behold it's all scratched up and isn't even a year old yet.

Unless the table is made of Teflon it will probably get tiny scratches but so will everything else. Rest your arms on the table and the clasp of your watchband gets scratched. Don't worry about it.
