Getting them off the car is easy.
Its just a matter of lifting the car up, removing the bolt on the bottom of the strut, (which most of the time requires the use of an impact wrench) then inside the trunk (for the rear struts) and under the hood (for the front struts) you will find the strut towers, and there is usually 3 or 4 nuts that have to be removed and the strut will pretty much fall right out.
Here is where it gets hard....Do you have a spring compressor?? If not, you're gonna have a hell of a time getting the spring off the strut. Dont try and go around using a compressor because there is lots of stored energy in those springs, if you just try and remove them you will either send that strut flying across your garage or ripping your hand off.
Take it to a mechanic and see how much they will charge you to remove then replace the new strut. Once that is done, just do the opposite of what you did earlier.

Dude, your going to need a manual because this isnt something that can be easily typed. Not knowing the type of suspension can make a difference. Also the front struts can be an oil bath type and those have to be replaced with a non oil bath type. You need a strut spring compressor because you have to completly disassemble the front units. Also it is recommended that you replace the strut mounting plates/bearings. replacing struts isnt an easy job.

i'm going to assist you to do the math counting on the place you reside. The labor fee to replace the two front struts is two hours,the oem section selection is 22400002 the labor fee to replace the rear is a million.6 hours. The gm section selection for the rear is 22400003. So we could do the math, save fee circumstances 3.6, plus yet another a hundred for an alignment afterwards, plus the struts with markup.

i could explain this to you,,because i own a repair shop,,but it would be a really long answer,,i think you need to get a repair manual called a Haynes repair manual,,in it you will find this and all you could ever want to know about your vehicle,,i have done this a lot,,but i cannot give all the details,,like the book can,,and neither could anyone else tel you word for word,,and get it all right,,the book will do this,,and for the 15 bucks they cost there worth it,,i use them,,and I'm sure a lot of other mechanics do also,,good luck with it,,i hope this helps.

ok. Tire comes off, brake caliper comes off, unbolt from top of strut, take 2 big bolts off the control arm, then you have to de-compress the spring. you need a special tool for that, if you try it yourself it could actually kill you. Replace shock, then put together in reverse order. that is very general. The guy above me has the right idea. i have them for my truck they are great. its about 30 bucks
