mcdonalds milkshakes used to work for me. i used to suck rennies ALL the time. if you eat little and often it is supposed to help. Also recommended to me was to eat baby rusks but I did not find that made much difference.
milky things seem to be the best (appart from giving birth, that gets rid of it!!!!)

I feel for you, I really do.
I had heart burn every time I drank a glass of water.
I found rolaids worked well.
especially the kind with the calcium, being pregnant, you and the baby both need the extra calcium.
I also found that the soft chews work really really well and taste pretty darn good too.
Much better than gaviscon.
Don't do the baking soda thing, all that will do is upset your stomach and make you puke.
At night, try laying on your left side, this helps empty the stomach cutting back on heart burn.
I know it is said to cut back on spicy foods, that is almost impossible when your craving something like Thai or mexican or something.
Try cutting back on the grease, that will help a bit too.
Like I said, I used to get it when I drank a glass of water.
Good luck!

Talk to your doctor, there are perscriptions that are stronger than OTC's for expecting mothers who are in a lot of discomfort with heartburn.
On your own, start eating smaller meals more frequently, try to avoid caffinated or carbonated drinks, fatty or spicy foods and (gasp!) chocolate. Citrus, like OJ, can also trigger it. (So I'm basically saying a rather bland diet helps)
When you do eat, don't drink a lot with your meal - your internal organs, such as your stomach are fighting for room as it is, liquids only expand it when you eat a meal, which can trigger the acid reflux.
Don't eat before going to bed, have at least an hour inbetween and sleep propped a bit up by pillows.
Some people find chewing gum to help, but not peppermint, as that is an irritant.

WellI posted a similar question recently.
I'm 24 weeks,I've started to get heartburn, mainly at night and nothing works.
I just can't sleep "propped up"!
I tried Gaviscon (liquid and tablets) but it makes me feel nauseous - really bad like I'm going to puke. I've spent sleepless nights because of this. I've also tried Tums and various other antacids and they all seem to have the same effect on me. They replace the heartburn with gut clenching indigestion and nausea! Don't ask me why, maybe I'm just weird as it seems to work fine for everyone else.
I spoke to my Consultant about this and he prescribed me Ranitidine (its sold over the counter as Zantac). It works differently to antacids like Gaviscon, they neutralise the acid in your stomach while Ranitidine stops your stomach producing so much acid in the first place.
He said it is safe to use in pregnancy and that he regularly gives it to women in labour (and he's an Ob/Gyn so I'm trusting him on that one!!!)
If you can get by with Gaviscon without it making you puke, I'd stick to that, though. If it didn't make me feel so ill I'd just take that but sadly it doesn't seem to agree with me.
The other thing I have found can help is having something milky, like a probiotic yoghurt drink or a Muller corner yoghurt without the fruit corner bit (just the yoghurt). I tried that last night when even the Ranitidine didn't work and it settled me down. I find yoghurt easier to stomach than milk.
When my mum was pregnant with me she had terrible heartburn and used to take a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in water. Last time I tried that for heartburn (about 10 years ago) it made me really really sick and I spent the night puking up so I think thats one remedy best avoided. My mum had me back in 1971 so perhaps there weren't many antacids available back then.

Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it. The taste is not too bad if you dilute with enough water and it works immediately. Heartburn is actually caused by not having enough acid. When you take an antacid it completely removes the acid in your stomach which causes your body to produce acid to replace it. This takes time which is why you don't feel relief for sometime after taking the antacid. The vinegar will add the needed acid right away and you feel better within minutes. I know it sounds wrong but try it. I promise it works.

There are many methods to calm heart burn, Gaviscon is a good and safe preparation, but ask the chemist about it if you are pregnant. There should be no problem, but it is better to be safe.
a quick and easy method if you are caught out is to clean your teeth and waiting a little while before rinsing out your mouth.
A peppermint of spearmint flavoured chewing gum will help.

Sorry, nothing works, tried everything when I was pregnant. I even had heartburn when I was in labour!! I bet your baby has a full head of hair, apparently it's a old wives tale that if you suffer with heart burn your baby will have hair. Mine did!

A tea spoon of baking soda mixed in a 1/2 or a full cup of water will take care if it. I don't recomend this very often, only if it is severe, because its not great on your stomach. It's instant relief. Good luck on your pregnancy!!

You can also take Tums. They will help for a while and this sounds pretty gross and it burns the heck out of your throat but you can take a shot of apple cider vinegar and that will clear the heartburn up almost immediately. That is what I have been having to do lately.

I had to try and find the food that was giving me heartburn and avoid it.
It tended to be spicy foods, onions, citrus fruits to name a few but we all react differently to different foods.
It did help me a lot when I was pregnant and caused me less discomfort.
Acid reflux is common when pregnant as the baby pushes up and squashes the stomach. If you have a lot of acid in the food you eat it makes it feel worse. (It did for me)
Hope this helps.
