I do think that zoos and circuses are in a way cruel but you need to also look at the good that the zoos may do for the animals like rehabilitation and if there were no zoos or circuses we might not be able to get an up close and personal experience with those animals. I honestly think that circuses are more cruel than zoos.

HI i agree that circuses are cruel to the animals involved. they are only there for human entertainment. My grandmother was one of the woman who rode the elephants in the circus when i was growing up back in the 70's and when i would go backstage even at my young age, i saw the animals being all antsy and stressed in their cages. always banging things and pacing back and forth. it wasn't like awwwww look at the animals, it was like awww those poor animals.
I think zoo's if they are large and well known and funded are wonderful to educate the pulbic. Zoos also come in where rehab is needed and the hope of saving an animal on the extinction list. If you research large scale zoos you will see how they are trying to protect our wildlife for our children. good luck with your essay

While writing this essay expand on the following key points and add subsidiary points to them if you please:
1)Animals roamed in the wild and have always been free...Why is it then that we, humans are captivating them simply to display them?
2)Animals are also living beings with emotions and feelings of their own.Their feelings on being imprisoned must be considered before harshly putting them in a small enclosure.
3)Animals do not get the chance to be in their natural habitat if they are captivated and are never exposed to the theory of "Survival of the fittest."
4)In circuses, animals are trained, in most cases, against their will, forcefully and are punished if they do not perform what they are being trained for...This is inhumane.
5)In an environment of restriction, even animals have an arrested development.Their feelings and most responses are no different from humans.
Hence, animals must be treated respectfully and not showcased like artifacts in a museum for the pleasure of just getting a chance to see them.

You could start with the Ringling Brothers circus, but I suggest finding a good library or internet site.
