What audio card is it, try and get the latest sound card drivers for your specific sound card ( which you should be able to get from there website )
Also if you have another computer maybe try the sound card on that one to make sure it still works ( only do this as a very last resort though )
What you could do is to right click on my computer --> properties --> hardware --> device manager and go to audio and sound deviecs and right click on the sound card and un install it.
Then restart and windows should detect new hardware ( that or you may see an unknown device which could be your sound card )
With regards to the drivers , do you still have the installation disc for the sound card ?

Dropping something on the PC could mean that you have jarred a PCi card from it's slot.
You may have caused a power spike when doing this and could have caused damage to you system.
Try this: Go to http://www.driveragent.com/?ref=93... and scan your system. ALL drivers on your system can be updated from this site.
And update all drivers it will also tell you which devices are detected.
