Would be a nice right/left handed combo and just for a few tournaments a year.

A Federer/Nadal pair up would get me interested in the doubles tournament. It wouldn't matter how good or how bad they were. They're big names that would draw a crowd. Messtograves is right though; not gonna happen, unless it's an expo where they're getting paid out the yin yang.

And I agree that it could help Nadal's net game. Didn't he play doubles at Stella Artois this year in preparation for Wimbledon? In fact, I think he paired up with pretty boy Lopez in the last two masters events. I don't think he's ever advanced far. You want a publicity stunt, how 'bout this? Nadal and Johnny Mac doubling up. That pair up even has the potential (on paper) to do well.

You will never see Nadal and Federer play a Doubles tournament together unless it is a one day charity event. The reasons are many , but I will just throw out one. Theses guys are looking to win tournaments and get singles points to become number one. If they took off to play doubles it would sap energy from ther singles matches and with the level of play today. I think it would be a great idea for Nadal however to get some double matches in. It could help his serve and his net play . His return I think he has down. Mac used to play doubles , but doubles was made for him. He could play with anyone and win. I think he was the greatest doubles players of all time. I remember Rafter and Phillipopous playing at the open together when they were younger. That was the first time I saw Rafter , they never won anything and boy they had good singles games. The Doubles teams out their today are teams. They know what the other guy is going to do with his eyes closed. I love doubles and I enjoy watching Knowles and Nestor or guys I don't see that much. Do not worry Doubles is not going anywhere. Six days until the greatest tournament in the world. I am psyched. Go answer the Mac quote question, it is funny and their are choices. How about Fed and Hingis in a little mixed doubles action.

I like the idea of a right/left combination for doubles but I think what makes it interesting is that they play against each other, how about:

Federer & (another good left handed)
vs.
Nadal & Roddick

Now that would be worth paying for !!

Not a chance they are both rubbish at the net. well not rubbish but not as good as alot of other players.
I think Federer and Johnny Mac against Nadal and Sampras would be a sweet match as long as Mac gets younger and Sampras loses some weight.

Just because someone is a good singles player does not mean they'll be good at doubles, or that they'll mesh as a team.

Their styles are two different. It just wouldn't create a cohesive team game.

I think they would run all over each other and start fighting about whose ball it is.
