Are you saying that you have nursed your son for 2 years and now you want to wean? If so, huge congrats on nursing 2 years! That is my personal goal at this point, since it's what the WHO recomends as a minimum.

For working and pumping, many moms pump wean at a year or shortly after; it should be relitively easy to just cut back on pumping gradually. Does he drink the expressed milk as well? How often is he nursing? You can't just stop all nursing sessions at once; that would be cruel to you and him both. But I really can't see any barriers to slowing down and stopping on the pumping at this point.

The natural age of weaning for humans is anywhere between 2.5 and 7 years, so he might just surprise you and wean himself in 6 months or so, provided he is also eating a ballanced diet of solids and drinking well from a cup.

Here are some links with more info on weaning that you may find helpful:

Ignore ignorant people who try to tell you what you "should have" done. You have done nothing wrong. Millions of children worldwide nurse 2-3 years or longer and manage somehow to eventually wean and go on to be well-adjusted, happly, healthy adults who eat other foods just fine. My sister, for example, nursed 22 mo; she's now in her late 20s, is very intellegent and healthy, and of course she is no longer nursing! lol

allow him to wean by him self. Most kids wean by the time they are 3. I nursed my son until he was over 2 1/2. Just relax and enjoy. It is a special bond that you are making between yourself and your son.

you shouldnt have nursed him that long. nurse until a yr old or just a few months older then that. thats your problem, he thinks that your milk is his only food.
