I personally love both having a Jack Russell and a sweet little kitten of my own so I can't pick which is the better animal. :)

I am a cat person...I feel they each have their own personality that is ingrained, and despite taking on a few of the traits of their owners...they always stay true to themselves.
They are also independent and fully capable of taking care of themselves as opposed to doggs that need constant care and are totally dependent on their masters.
Cats don't have masters, just roommates......lol

I have had both. To me cats are better because they don't make a lot of noise, they never smell bad, (A dog always has a dog smell) and they love to just "Chill". Also a cat can go to the litter box, a dog you have to take out. Fact: Cats are by far the smarter animal.

Both, I've had, in the last 25 years, 3 dogs and 2 cats, including my current cat, Misty. They were an Afghan Hound, a mixed breed collie, a Lab/ Golden retreiver mix and 2 tabby cats.

We have 2 cats and a black lab, so I like both cats and dogs. However, due to their usually calm & loving nature, I think I like cats better. Our dog is a little too boisterous for me, at times, and I am not a huge fan of being licked or breathed on by her. lol

After losing both my dearest American Eskimos, I'm not having any pets for years to come.
Especially the mom who passed first, while racing home after receiving the phone call from my wife, a smell permeates into my car a few miles from home, instinctively I knew it was my girl.
When I reached home, I rushed in and ask my wife where is she, and when I neared her body it was exactly the weird smell of her that permeated

I like cats better but I guess that's because I have a huge dog that can't exactly be held though he'd like to think he's small enough to get in your lap.

I generally like dogs better because cats have an attitude. Who needs to buy attitude? I get it every day for free. =p
