Thailand.
I've travelled to about 30 countries. And there are lots of things to be said for individual countries. Thailand is #1 in only 1 criteria - the people. Ask anyone who's been there and they will tell you the people are incredibly warm and friendly.
Otherwise, beautiful beaches (Maldives is better). Beautiful mountains (Nepal is better). Great shopping (depends on what you're looking for and what price range). Inexpensive. Fantastic food. Culture.
I can't stress enough. Visit Thailand. It will be the yardstick by which all other places are measured.

The most beautiful place on Earth is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Most of us know of the great Battle of Gettysburg that ensued there nearly 150 years ago. Around sunset, you can actually feel the presence of souls long gone. The most beautiful place of all at Gettysburg is a small hill just south of town called Little Round Top. It is here that Union Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain defended wave after wave of Confederate soldiers, and then valiantly charged down the hill even when all of their ammunition was out, for which Colonel Chamberlain was promoted to Major General. Then, there is The Angle and The High Water Mark, along the Emmitsburg Road. This is where the famed Pickett's Charge took place. I've been going to Gettysburg every year of my life, and every time I had an unforgettable experience, and I'm sure you will, too.

Paradise means different things to different people - for me, it's a place with lots of history and is charming. Visit Brasov, Romania for that. Gorgeous! Especially in the autumn when the leaves are changing.
