For instance, he thinks is very intimate, but actually you would never tell him a little secret. And now, it's so boring when you meet him or receive e-mails from him, that this had to end! what would you do????

Just tell him how you feel, it's better to act know before it goes to much towards him. He could be thinking that everything is ok and going right to his way. So it better to let him now. If you keep on pulling it off for so long, this guy might be thinking to (hopefully not) to come over and see you more often. It's better to cut ties now, that way both of you guys can move on quickly before it gets to late. I'm not trying to bash your friend, but I do believe that you must get rid of him soon, before things gets more uncomfortable for you.
There really 2 ways, one positive and the other one negatively...
1. The positive one, tell him that you need a break (or tell him that you think things are not working with you guys), need to relax and get away for awhile, that there are many things that you must sort out (basicly you are letting him down nicely and that way he can understand YOUR situation, not his... you get me?).
2. The negative one, just don't talk to him or see him, even if this guy comes to your door. Let a friend or a family member tell him that you are not here or something related to it (like you went out with your friends or went for a LONG trip to Canada...LOL). Just basicly loose all ties with him. The OTHER negatively way, is flat out tell him to stop calling you or contacting you. Be strong and blunt directly. Most guys run away when girls are more macho then them.
So here a few suggestions, but the better approach is what you know about this guy. So use that to your advantage, every guy is different, and this is about YOU. But for god sake, make sure your safety is ok, hopefully it will not come to that point, dependly on that guy. Remember 911 is not to far away, or maybe you can tell your family and/or friends if that is the case.

Tell him there are things going on in your life that you are not ready to discuss and you need some time, and you will get back in contact with him when things get better... but that you just need some space right now...

Tell him you have outgrown the friendship and need to move on. Make sure he gets the message and dont have any contact with him

u dont like him and dont trust him so whats the problem. telll him that u r not intrested and dont think of him that way. i am sure he will get hurt but if u dont tell him u will be stuck with him and u will be hurting urself and confusing urself even more than u already r.
