I have had my tongue pierced for 3 years now and I want to know if you have to take it out for labor?

No it didn't hurt when I got it pierced. I am not worried about choking on it because I havent chocked on it yet.

I wouldn't worry about it. Do you have a barbell? Just make sure it's screwed on VERY tightly.

If you have an x-ray or a test like that, I think you have to remove body jewelry, but x-rays aren't common during labor. If you're truly concerned, ask the nurse or your ob/gyn when you go to the hospital to deliver your baby.

I didnt have to take my tongue ring out during labor, the nurses said it was fine, but i would have to take it out if I had to have a c-section.

Well if u play with it a lot, i would be a little careful about yanking with your teeth during the painful contractions, but otherwise Im sure you will be fine! I know thats something I would have done but everyone handles the pain differently.

I doubt it, I had my belly button pierced through 3 pregnancies and births and never took that out.

its a liability and yes you will have to remove it along w/ any other oral piercings. (if your getting an epidural-otherwise ask your ob.gyn) If they have to stick a tube down your throat they're worried it'll come off and get sucked into your lungs. (yea...utter bullshit) I had to remove mine but was allowed to keep plastic retainers in all the others.

You shouldn't have to take it out, but i would just incase there is an emergency. Ask your doctor to be sure.
