My boyfriend has sent me a message and told me that he hates his job and he is stressed out and he cannot wait to meet me on Thursday. Anyway, I tried to support him but it looks like I said the wrong thing to him as he seems very strange with me? I replied to him and told him that it must be really stressful and that I will look after him when we meet on Thursday and that I want him to know that he is the best boyfriend who I wouldn't change for anybody no matter what his boss thinks. He replid and said thanks but then he said that he would be quite sad if I changed my mind about him based on what his boss thinks of him? I replied to him and said that he completely misunderstood me and that what I meant was that even if his boss does not appreciate him, I do and that I wanted to reassure him even if he does not feel about work, he is my best one and I think of him. and I said that of course my feelings aren't based on what his boss or whoever at work says.

I said to him that I was only trying to tell him that no matter what I am with him. He replied and said that it's quite obvious and useless to say and then he thanked me for my support. I am confused. It sounds like he is angry with me now? I am sad not knowing what to do or say to him?

When you do meet him thursday, don't bring up his job or his boss unlesss he does it first. Just get his mind off the stress. He will handle his own problems on his accord.

Maybe you should've said something like "I hate to see you upset.. but know that I'm there for you... that I love you and that I want to make your world a little bit better.. by showing you that you can always count on me" instead... the thing is that.. you tried to tell him that you don't care what everyone else thinks.. because you'll love him no matter what.. but that sounds kind of wrong..... because it's obvious that you'd do just that.. It sounds like you were saying that his boss might be right about him.. that he does things wrong at work.. but that you still love him even if that's the fact?
I think he wanted you to say that his boss is wrong.. and maybe help him to find a solution to his problem or get it off his mind...... instead of telling him that he sucks at his job but that you still love him (because that's what you did basically)

He is depressed and stressed out so missing the point.
Call him and tell him
"you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick. I love you very much and hate the fact that you are unhappy so cant wait to see you on Thursday and cheer you up"
If he still doesnt get it .. go round there .. grab him and give him a serious kissing .. he will forget about work :)

wow, that is confusing. Doesnt look like you said anything that would be offensive, he has got the wrong end of the stick somewhere or perhaps cos he's stressed has only scanned the text and read it wrong. Ive done that sometimes and made myself look a right idiot. Call him and find out whats going on, looks like the only option, let us know what happens. good luckxx

Obviously this is a misunderstanding.
it also seems to me he is quite upset about his work situation that he is getting your support as the opposite !!
I would call him (don't wait until Thurs) and have a gentle conversation making sure he understands that he is capable of getting another job if he wants to and you will support him on whatever problems or decisions he is taking.

You're missing the point here...
He said he can't wait to see you!!!
He wants you to tell him all the sexy things you will be doing with him when you finally get to see each other! He is looking to restore his confidence and the best way for a guy to do that is to believe that a hot, sexy woman finds him irresistable!
He is looking to have a boost to his ego...by hearing you tell him all the hot, sexy things you can't wait to do to him!
So stop waiting and tell him!!!!!

drsteve has just beat me to it. maybe he's feeling a bit of a loss of confidence because of the work situation. maybe you're best not going too deep into it with him unless he actually opens up to you and initiates the conversation. just give him a tight hug and tell him you love him.
