No it's because we joined the EU way back and now we are reaping both the good and the bad rewards. What's up with all this British Empire crap doing the rounds at the moment. Move on why can't you!

Edit: Judging by all the responses you must have got the message by now. Why all this Britain did this and Britain did that. What about how we as a nation have help other nations over the years with aid, food, money, kindness and dedication, and in many instances sacrificed there lives for the sake of others.

I rest my case. Thank you!

No because I think if you actually read some history books you'd probably see that Britain weren't the only country to have "committed so many evil crimes" - I'd like you to name a few examples of those by the way, I expect you can't.

Immigration isn't necessarily a bad thing. Ever heard of the highly skilled migrant programme? A lot of UK doctors, dentists and engineers for example are migrants because a lot of UK companies and the NHS struggle to recruit such qualified people here.

What an appallingly ignorant question. The wording is baffling, but you might ask yourself why UK has quite a high level of immigration from all over the world, if you really think that "the british empire" comitted these so called evil crimes, which incidentally I don't accept.

No - A shortage of labour prompted Britains borders to be opened to immigrants with the promise of a new life and by this point the empire was all but finished. Discourses of Empire, however, continue to play a part in our national consciousness and are partly responsible for racist attitudes. Our leaders do suggest that we should consider our involvement in crimes committed during the imperial past e.g. massacres in India, slavery, etc and this is used as an anti-racist argument - the fact is that those who profited from those crimes are sat off in their vast estates in places like buckinghamshire whilst those who are being told to feel guilty are working class people who were as much slaves to empire as foreign peoples (in mines, factories etc) and who now live in very crowded inner city and urban environments like Oldham, Burnley, East London, where there scarce resources - areas that have proved in the past to be racial melting pots

What an absolute load of GARBAGE. Firstly England is not the only country to have had an empire. Should we be whinging at the Italians because we were once part of their empire?
Secondly while England was ruling these countries they were in a far better state than they are now.
And thirdly - yes lets build another empire - but first we would need to get rid of Mr Blair!!

THe UK isnt the ONLY power that has commited evil crimes on other countries.

For example, The UK has never used an Atomic bomb on another nation.

Then it should be worse in Spain, France, Germany, and the Netherlands since those empires were much worse on the local population than the British were. You should actually sit down and LEARN some history.
