I didn't have any of the obvious signs. All I had was some cramping, but for me it was normal. I was cramping through the whole pregnancy. I was only in labor for about 2 1/2 to three hours. Very short for a first pregnancy I'm told. But that is all I got. They broke my water in the hospital, and I never noticed a mucus plug.

My wife always felt a great amount of energy before labor, and a desire to rearrange the nest just right. Just a few days before the birth of our first, I came home and found that my wife had rearranged all the furniture in our apartment - including moving the refrigerator to the other side of the kitchen!

With both of mine, the night before I didn't sleep. At all. Not a wink. I was up all night, and restless. Some other women I have talked to slept all day and night before, storing up energy. I think a drastic change to your sleep pattern is a sign your body is getting ready.

Major pressure in your pubic region. Also back pain. You can also experience alot of moodiness and anger toward everyone because you feel miserable. I never experienced a burst of energy. But some women do.

After my water broke, I felt these abdominal pains similar to when you get your period only more pronounced. If you've ever had dysmenorrhea, that's how it feels like. It comes and goes and gives you a bit or relief for a few minutes. Then, it comes back again and again.

I had indigestion when I went into labor. Trust me you will know and no amount of stories will come close to helping you. You are your own uniqueness and therefore different.
Good luck with this.

I hear you get an incredible energy burst beforehand. Like you want to clean the house / mow the lawn. Stuff you really shouldn't be doing.
