In Bulgaria you'll find that people shake their heads to say yes and nod their heads to say no, although when they nod it's usually a simple, one-time up and down movement as opposed to the up-down, up-down nodding in the affirmative common in North America and Europe.

Not in where I live! Nodding up nad down means yes, and side to side means no. I think these are universal moves.
