Ranny:

Accounting is a good profession.

On the plus side, good accountants are always in demand. It can provide a good career with strong progression according to your talents; and a 6 figure income after 10 years or so if you are successful.

On the minus side, it's a very stressful profession with a LOT of deadlines. The hours are long - expect to work at least 50 hours a week in the trenches; more when you get into management. It's also easy to get "pigeonholed" if you let someone talk you into a specialized position like revenue accounting or royalty accounting.

Every single company needs accountants, so it is definitely a good career to get into if you don't mind repeated work or some challenging and exciting work (higher level)!! It is a rewarding job if you have CPA license ... you can make a whole lot of money for being a higher level accountant.

Just remember, you will "always" find a job if you are an accountant :)

it is good and safe career, only you like it, most of the time it is so boring, same task everyday, time pass so slow especially when you have nothing to do.
