My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over two years. We get on very well, but our relationship is beginning to suffer because we simply don't do anything. We either end up staying in watching tv or go to the pub. He doesn't really like going to the cinema and hates theatre.
What do couples do in together in the evening?!
We don't have much money to spend, but i think if we don't sort something out we'll end up breaking up. We have such petty arguments because we're both fed up and bored.
We don't even have any individual hobbies. My boyfriend hates his job at the university, but unless he leaves academia he's going to be stuck doing the same thing. I think he would be happier if he had something to look forward to that can take his mind off work.
Please help me this is really serious, I want to save our relationship.
BTW we live in Birmingham, UK ( I know, shouldn't be bored in a big city). Oh, and don't just say sex!
Thank you everyone.

Sex isn't off the menu, i just didn't want people to just say that for a laugh. I'm genuinely want to know what other couples do.

i know where you are coming from
1. walk. 30 minutes round a park - drive to a rich part of town a look at the fancy homes and no litter. makes you think and talk.
2. cook dinner together. . . .. it can happen
3. surf together - stupid things on youtube.com - like mentos in a diet coke bottle. sill talking cats. lighting farts
4. get into the matrix or lord of the rings or dr who (old & new) a tv show with history that you have to hunt in charity shops and surf on amazon to get the whole deal. hunting becomes your hobby.
5. 80s retro games via your tv. not costly & silly fun still.
6. surf on amazon for books from your past or interests you have. some very cheap video deals too, yoga, tai chi, pokemon, A-team, stand up comedy, bogart movies , etc
7. tennis or squash. no pro stuff but a soport that is close by cheap (tennis free in park or football or basketball) and the equipment is always in the trunk of the car.
8. watch comedies more than serious stuff or soaps. Like Frasier or Friends. It may get your wit going???
9. The obvious. dim lights. dvds of mutual choice. might find out something new in eachother's taste (good or bad)
10. TALK - art ain't dead yet. Review the day. be positive even if you dont feel it.
Good luck. Keep the faith. I did.

Go for a walk in the afternoons. Have a romantic dinner in the park. Play card games that if the winner will receive something in the end. Make a candle light dinner at your place where you can talk and watch a movie together. Take a road trip. Me and my husband use to do this. We would just get in the car and drive around. Exploring roads that we didn't know where they went. Go camping. Access the outdoors. Its free.

You should go for walks in the park on a nice hot summers evening. Grab a bite to eat and have long, in depth discussions along the way. Go to ice skating discos. It is a laugh, especially when neither of you know how to skate. Go swimming together of join the gym. It will keep you both focussed on something and will give you something to talk about. Go to bingo. Loads of young people go to bingo nowdays, its not just for old people. You never know you might even win and you can spend your winnings on a romantic meal or a short break way together. there is so much you can do, you will find that you will start to appreciate cosy nights in just the two of you!!!!

Get out mix with friends and snog in the corner...
Learn to find nightclubs were you really like the music...
Skip the booze pay a few quid to get in like £3 with a flyer to the rock club, drink water all night or the occasional pepsi, spend the night dancing with mates or making out in some corner then get a night bus home...
Do something sporty... winner say do looser does...
Cities are boring as little free fun... You need to be somewhere with a surfy beach or snorkle beach then once you have boarks or snorkle kits and a wetsuit... free fun.
Poker nights
Backpacker nights remeber its the booze that costs so avoid... go on foam party nights or party games nights and take part... Ie you get in the wet t shirt competition, he gets in the full monty, you get to grope the winner...
Or enter jelly wrestling (again see backpacker traveller bars) competitions, he gets to cheer then gets to make the other guys jealous by getting to clean you.. with his tongue.
Stop acting like sensible oldies and act like teenagers... ie the point of a short skirt is he gets to look up t as you go up the stairs up up your skirt as you sit opposite. A safe body of water is an opportunity for skinny dipping at night
Does the uni have clubs you could join in?
Real cheap that...
If you can afford to get one... try a remote control vibrator... it goes in your panties...
He gets the remote for the day and can tunr it on silently any time he likes and be a annoying immature little bratt...
Like when you are on the phone to mum or speaking to a nun.

Play board games, go for nice walks or drives, TALK, get a pet. There is lots of stuff to do wherever you live that is free or inexpensive. Communication is the big thing so discuss how your feeling openly and try to come to some understanding

You both can walk for exercise some evenings and sight see at the same time. While walking you will get new interests comparing what you like and you don't like. Some inexpensive restaraunts may get your attention.
