does anyone know what the word emo means and why people are refered to that?

Personally, I think it ref errs to kids that want something to cry about, depression for attention... it is a lifestyle.. deep thoughts and what not. Some of the music is good... but I think it is a little over played.

Emo - emotional. Usually listens to emo-punk, emo-rock, emo-goth music that centers around emotional thoughts ( sadness). It has become a misconception that emo means that you cut yourself. Not all emos do it, but some other stereotypes do this also, like a prep girl, etc,....
