Karaoke is simply good interactive entertainment. Good singers or bad singers doesn't matter. It's a chance for the average patron to be involved in the entertainment, which is not the case with DJ or band performances where you either dance or just sit and listen.

Because people want to live out their rock star fantasies. It's so exhilarating to get up in front of a bunch of people and belt a tune, especially if you've got a decent voice.
I, being a karaoke dork, have been in several contests over the years and made it to finals once. Yea, pretty lame, I know. : )

So they can act out their fantasies and not be too out in the open
like American Idol..........and most of those people NEED to stick to local club karaoke!!

There are several reasons.....1) they enjoy being the center of attention 2) they think they can sing and some really can 3) they get drunk 4) they're talked into it by drunk friends.....variations of any of these reasons apply.....Happy singing!

cuz they like to sing.....i LOVE karaoke, especially cuz im singing in front of a bunch of ppl and i dont care if they boo me cuz im a horrible singer, it's just an amazing feeling

It's so much fun to listen to people make idiots out of themselves. I enjoy that immensely. It is quite entertaining to me.
