Yep. A/C in the office broke down, and my boyfriend showed up with a fan. All of my co-workers thought he was the sweetest thing.

From an employer's standpoint I dont think it's a good idea. If you are uncomfortable with it, tell the other person. Sounds like lack of trust to me. Ask them what were they thinking when they decided to show up.
