I would suggest as just a general rule, to watch any movie for the content before showing it to your children. If you are talking about Monty Python and the meaning of life, I personally don't think the Virgin Scene is heavy at all. If I remember correctly there is no nudity. I was watching Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail when I was a young child. I didn't understand everything in it, but as I grew up I did.
Like I said, General rule, watch the movie before you show it to your children, so you can deem it appropriate or not for their age group. If you decide to show it and your children have questions, be prepared to answer them honestly in an age appropriate way. Because your children will have questions and they deserve to have the correct answers.

When i first saw the movie, my dad watched it with me. He skipped the virgin scene, and i still thought it was the funniest thing i had ever seen. THat scene isnt crucial to the plot at all.
I 'd say 10-11 at the youngest, if you're watching it with them.
There is still a little language here and there, but its the lords name in vain mostly, and your kids probably know the name of the lord anyway (i.e. Jesus Christ) just sit them down and tell them they shouldnt use that language.

I don't think age has as much to do with it as being able to "get" British humor.
It could be that a 14 or 15 year old would understand things in it that a 17 or 18 year old wouldn't. It just depends on the person.

My daughters started watching MP with me in middle elementary school. There is nothing over the top in any MP show. One might see a bosum. Big deal. There is inuendo. That's part of the humor.
MTV and Brittany Spears is far, far worse than anything on MP.
Teaching my kids (son watches now) about the whole of life is what parents are supposed to do. Better they see things and ask questions with their parents then with some idiots from school.

I'd say 16+ based of some of the suggestive themes, though some parents would decide it's generally inappropriate for children.
I think it's a pretty funny movie, but I'm old and can disregard inappropriate themes in favor of the other ultra-silly aspects :-)

I am not fond of Monty Python myself, but I would say at least 16. It gets kind of raunchy
