Glaciers are ice, frozen water. It still flows downhill but very slowly, maybe 50 metres per year.

Imagine millions of tons of ice sliding downhill slowly. It grinds away the rocks to create glacial "u shaped" valleys and powders and breaks the rocks and sweeps it downhill (glacial moraine is created this way)

The combination of ice and crushed rock can literally polish remaining rock. sections of valleys can be found with beautiful polish on the rock faces.

Well Glacial Erosion is a very good topic. I live in India so i will tell you what i know. Well in India the biggest problem we have with glacial erosion is of gangotri. Gangotri is the glacier from which ganga forms and it is melting, thus moving the whole glacier down and down, there will be one point after which the ice will just fall apart and there could be a lot of damage, that was just for you to get started..

Glacial erosion leaves bare rock while deposition is the place each and every ingredient eroded including soils has been left. till weathering has taken place on the bare rock there is no longer something transforming into whilst interior the glacial till finally there is adequate soil for vegetative count number to strengthen even earlier weathering and plant existence and animals and guy get to artwork on it.

Glaciers are huge (I mean HUGE) blocks of compressed snow and ice that slide down a mountainside. They are so heavy, they will 'grind' away the dirt underneath - and that's erosion. The Appalachian mountains were ground down in this manner.
