Be yourself - you'll find that being confident in yourself and whatever choices you make will make you more successful and a better leader in whatever you decide to do in the future!!

Let them be gangstas and popularize a criminal lifestyle all they want. They'll learn soon enough that criminals don't get very far in life.

You could try to understand why they like hip hop, but you don't have to act like one of them. At the same time, do not wear things that make you stand out alot coz that will really attract some bully sessions.

What you can do is keep a low profile. This is a case when you don't want to be popular - especially in the kind of neighbourhood you're in. And i believe there are good kids there, so mix with them instead.

Don't try to be close to these kids as you don't know they may just drag you into their "world" of drugs, fights etc.

Oh, and don't insult hip hop infront of them. You don't want to be on their black list. Just to be on the safe side, just read up a bit on the latest hip hop stuff. At least if they talk to you about anything, you have something to say.

And be smart, alright?

I wish you all the best and take care.

I don't think you are going to get people to change there preferred music. However, you may get them to appreciate a different option as okay. You however should give hip hop a chance and maybe you will see it as okay.

Mean and ugly are really mean things to say. Are you sure you aren't just missing your old friends and not willing to make new ones??

Yes, go with the flow and be polite. You may or may not grow to like your new area. Either way is okay, but don't make trouble for yourself. You will graduate school and probably see few people that went to high school with you for the rest of your life.

Hell no! you rock on! I dont care what they are doing you be yourself and dont ever go with the flow. you dont want to be a sheep you want to be the hearder! by God dont you do it. The most attractive thing a person can do is be themselves, I dont care who themselves are. acting like some one else makes you look STUPID!!!! And week!!! and I say do not do it. I have a daughter who is 10 years old she scores highest on all tests, everything she does she does better then anyone else and i really believe it is because she is Herself. All the kids want to play with her and come up to me and tell me 'Laura is my best friend' when I tell her about it she sometimes doesnt even know who that peoson is who says that. I know she is only ten right now but I can tell she is going to be that way for the rest of her life. every teacher she has had says she is a leader, by the way all the little boys love her and buy her nice gifts for all the holidays especially valentines day. So please be yourself. please please please! I know it is hard to fit in for some it was for me and I dont understand Laura doing it with such ease, I really think its because she truly loves herself and without being selfish. I dont know why I was blessed with such a child but the Lord does work in mysterious ways. BE YOURSELF!!!

No. Never go with the flow. For years I have always been something of an outsider in school, but have enjoyed it, knowing I am different than everyone else. When everyone in school followed a trend, I could feel good knowing I was being myself. It may cost you popularity, but in the long run, popularity doesn't mean ****.

i feel bad for you and i would never do that to my children i have done so much to keep them in the same school cuz i went through it when i was young but a lot younger than you are i wish i could give you good advice but i can't i say be yourself and they will probably make you the out cast i tell you to go with the flow and you will be miserable inside. so all i can do is to tell you to go with what you think and learn form your mistakes. i hope everything works for you good luck

No, please don't subscribe to that old school thought that "all black people listen to rap"...that is so far from the truth!! what ever you do be yourself. Do really want to be accepted by people who aren't going anywhere with their lives?? Trust me, i was in Band for twelve years and got called a dork everyday by other black kids...But I got to travel the world and get scholarships left and right...tell those kids to "KMA" if they don't like you or what you are about..you are God's perfect creation, if they can't recognize that...shame on them!!

Good luck!!

no way. If rock is what you like, listen to it. And I agree with you, most hip hop music does suck. Everyone at my school listens to it too, but me and a couple of my other friends don't. Music opinions shouldn't matter when it comes to making friends, and if they think it does, then they are losers and they don't deserve to be your friend anyway. Good luck! :)

Why be someone who you don't like ?
Not only you don't like how you be, and other people don't like you either. Plus you will be judged as a gangster that may get you in trouble one day.

Be yourself and you will find someone who you will feel more comfortable with hanging out.

Never...by going with flow, you would act like a sheep. Be yourself, live by YOUR standards, not by the other's one. Be a real citizen by expressing yourself and your way of life.
