Well, first you have to have a definition of success. I prefer Ralph Waldo Emerson's:
Success
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
So, if you think you've achieved any of these things, then go ahead and say you're successful!

When they're satisfied. I consider myself successful because I like my job, and I think I'm being paid fairly. I don't spend all of my time at work, and I have extra money to do the things I want to. I may not be rich, but I have enough to share. I work hard, but I'm quite content to be where I'm at right now.

"Success" is subjective and relative to what each of us seek, compromise in, attain, desire, feel a level of comfort in when it's reached.
For me, beyond financial gains, it's waking to that first breath each morning. It's knowing that I did what I set out to accomplish, even in small ways, that affirm the value in the "doing".
It might also be spiritual enlightenment and attainment of ones belief in themselves, and external forces that guide, direct, drive them.
It can happen in the most minute ways, and still seem Grand in scale to an individual accepting that there are NO real limits to Wanting to achieve. The limits are only placed, when one decides, " I can't"
