definitely don't drop one year - spend it taking grammar and spelling

Wasting 1 year of your life is useless. But for IIT its worth the risk. You could join some other college for engg. and study for IIT most of the time. So even if you fail to acquire any seat in IIT atleast you would not waste 1 year.

whatever you decide, don't take a year off and not better yourself in some way......and never give up.........my daughter did not like her MCAT scores for medical school and didn't like the ones she was accepted to, so................she lived at home for a year clerking at a department store to study for the MCAT again. Her score came up 10 points higher and she was accepted at the best in Texas. Today she has been in private practice for 6 years and has two beautiful children and a wonderful husband. Hang in there!!!!!!!!! Success in life is 90% determination and 10% smarts!!!!!!

I feel u should do whatever possible your heart tells u, because, only u, will achieve this goal, and if you have alot of enthusiasm about yourself, which it sounds like u do, I believe u, will accomplish your goal, sometimes change happens for a reason, and for the better. Just always remeber good coommunication, and knowledge rules.

Don't drop. Go for one year and raise your scores. Then transfer to the school you want to go to. I have several friends who did this and they said it was easier to transfer than it was to get accepted initially. This will also make the transfer easier for your parents to accept once they see the hard work you put into the first year.

Good Luck
