Well I am retired at 56 yrs. old, I worked for the same Company for 38 yrs. & retired Jan. 1st. 2006 Mainly due to a back injury from 12 yrs. ago, But I don't see myself as Old. I read my bible, Go to church, Sit outside in the yard, go to bed when I want to & get up when I want to, The only thing i can say negative about retirement is I still wake up very early, I use to get up 3:15 AM & leave for work, & worked 10 hours a day & get back home about 4:00 pm, now I sleep to 5:30 am. I love it, & I am not a lazy person, I began working on my uncle's farm when I was 9 yrs. Old, helping him pluck corn by hand, & stacking the corn into a pile on the ground 4 ft. high 8 feet circle, & was paid 5 cents per hill, I would make 25 cents a day some good days, I used to help load hay on wagon back then too, when I was about 11. I remember working as a child making $1.25 cents a week sometimes, I started working in factories when I was 16, while I was still in school, & I did graduate from school & began working for my last employer at age 18 in 1968 until I retired at the end of 2005. I do not consider myself old.

Happy, rich, and very very very content. A sun setting, gentle waves lapping the shore of a white sandy beach, cocktail in hand, under a palm tree. My own island of course. Naturally I will have become so rich that I will have been able to take care of my entire family and friends and their friends and theirs, that by the time I get to actually retire, I will have cured world poverty, created peace for all races, solved the great mysteries of life and guaranteed an existence for all mankind where they no longer have to lift a finger, be hurt or become frustrated, except of course nasty people. I will have rocketed them to the sun where they can build a fiery little colony of nastyness and live happily ever after in a flaming hell.

I should have some investments that will supplement my SS... Social Securtity was never intended as a retirement program but a supplement to your retirement pension. (now called a 401K)

Sadly as a youth I didn't look to the future as well as I should have and won't have as much for retirement as I really might need.

hopefully able to fend for myself, as well as financially, be able to still walk...to be alive would be a plus..

To be able to do things..or do nothing ...and feel guilt free, i want to see how it is from the other side of the fence, i see oldens walking about with no cares, and no hurry, I want to know what that feels like, just worrying about if you've defrosted your freezer, and got enough bread in case someone pops in ...instead of worrying about where your 5 year old is in the park and safe... or panicking if your teen isnt home yet..yeah, simplicity is where i see myself. no point in setting nay high goals, because my life was never meant/destined to be rich, but to be alive,.... and the oldest in the family.... with lots of decendants to wind up,
I want to be the embarrasing granny at weddings :O)

the one who still gets up to dance to Greenday at 70, and drops her teeth into the champagne, i want to be the little old lady in a rest home with an i pod....

On my last legs at this rate. We should be able to retire when we're, say, 80? Then we'll have enough pension for our last week on earth.

I see myself and my husband living on a beautiful Caribbean island, chilled out and happy with our lot, unless we win the lottery to have that lifestyle then its going to be here at home with jam sandwiches and corporation pop for life.

You must be in the upper class of society, because I know I will probably have to work until I die living here in the lower-middle class. Hope you have fun.
